Amanda Cox

The Montessori method of learning has been part of my family’s life for many years. My two sons, now young adults, both attended Mountaineer Montessori School in Charleston, WV, where I worked as an assistant and later a teacher from 1994 to 2015, receiving my certification in 1998. As a certified Kripalu yoga teacher, I also started and conducted after-school yoga classes at Mountaineer Montessori School.

I received my education at West Virginia University and Cornell University, and hold a bachelor’s degree in History and Art History.

My interests include baking, community theater, reading, art, physical fitness, and travel. My travels have taken to me across the United States as well as to Europe, North Africa, Central America, and Canada.

I moved to Asheville in the late summer of 2015, and am looking forward to exploring and settling into this vibrant community — and especially to sharing my love of learning with my students at Asheville Montessori.
