Jennifer Banks
Office / Floater
My name is Jennifer Banks and I’m very excited to be working at Asheville Montessori School this year! My role at the school is a Floater, which means that I help out in all 4 classrooms as well as in the office.
I’m an Asheville native and a graduate of Duke University. Before taking this role, I served for several years as the assistant director of a local non-profit.
This is my 6th consecutive year as a parent of an AMS student. I fell in love with the school back in 2009 when our oldest child attended. The way the Montessori method seems to effortlessly encourage my children to learn has always been amazing to me. (Now that I am behind the scenes, I know it is not effortless; the team members here work very hard to create that environment!) I also love the way the school encourages children to become more independent. For example, my kids were always so proud when they put their jacket on by themselves for the first time, using a trick they learned at school! I believe little things like that create young children who are confident, and who approach the world with a positive attitude.
My husband and I have three school-aged children, so when I’m not working I’m usually doing something within the sphere of motherhood. As a family we like to go on hikes, participate in our church, cheer for the Carolina Panthers, and spend time with our large extended family.
