Marcia Whiting
Staff Training/Floater
“Hi, I’m Marcia and thrilled to be a part of AMS. I was born and raised in Boston, MA. I graduated from Plymouth State University in NH with a B.S. in Elementary Ed.
After graduation, I had the opportunity to live, travel, and teach in Japan for two and a half years. My husband (of 41 years) and I have three sons and a daughter.
Thirteen years ago I had the opportunity to be Montessori trained at the Center for Montessori Education in NY. I worked as a head teacher and education director at Montessori Children’s House of Erie in PA for 6 years. I then worked as a head teacher at Montessori Children’s Community in Sewickley for four years.
For the next four years, I had the privilege of being a lead teacher at the Julia St. AMS. Now I am enjoying my role as a floater, in which I connect with all the children and fill in where the need is. I am also a continual presence in the Woodfin Kindergarten class.
I truly believe in the Montessori philosophy. It sets the foundation to become a life-long lover of learning. I welcome the challenge of bringing children to their full potential in a positive, caring environment.”
