Natalie Laney
My name is Natalie Laney, and I am so excited to be a part of Asheville Montessori School! I grew up in a small town outside of Columbia, South Carolina called Swansea. I attended undergrad at Presbyterian College where I received a BA in English with a minor in Religion.
After graduating, I worked as an Interventionist in the Early Childhood Center in Swansea. The school had a few years prior switched from a traditional public school setting to that of a Montessori public school, and it was there that I had my first experiences with the Montessori classroom.
I fell in love with the simplicity, peacefulness, and design of the Montessori philosophy and decided to pursue my Masters at Lander University in order to someday teach my own Montessori class. In the spring of 2013, I finished my Montessori certification, and that summer, I finished my Masters in Preschool Education. I love working with young children and feel honored to be a part of the Asheville Montessori School community.
While teaching and taking Masters courses I also met my now husband through mutual friends. We were married June 1st and he is how I ended up in the Asheville area! For almost 5 years, he has lived in Marion, NC, and I now live with him there!
I love the mountains and enjoy being so close to Asheville. When we aren’t working on turning the bachelor pad into a home, we love to cook, hike, run, read, and get sushi!
