Summer Camp

Summer Camp at Asheville Montessori School is a wonderful opportunity to introduce new students to the Montessori method and keep current students engaged, while being immersed in a fun, educational opportunity.

Below is our line-up of 2026 summer camps, and below that is more information on how Summer Camp at AMS works, as well as the enrollment process.

Week 1: June 15 – 19, 2026

STEAM Camp
Tonya & Ariana

S.T.E.A.M. Camp offers a week of exploration into the worlds of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Campers will develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills through hands-on activities such as sensory play, building, art, and simple experiments.

Nature Navigators
Esta & Hanna

Our camping-themed week invites children to explore the fundamentals of camping with a focus on WNC. Campers try their hand at setting up a small tent, determine what is necessary to pack, identify native plants and animals, learn about basic fire safety and more! As the week unfolds, they’ll create a miniature campsite art project that reflects each new skill and topic, giving them a keepsake of their adventure.

Snack Camp
Emma C. & Chase

For all of our food-loving friends, come learn how to make your own snacks, such as trailmix, sandwiches, granola, parfaits, butter, and more! The children will make their own “Cook Book” with recipes that they will record, as well as learn about measuring, portioning, and nutrition! Our tummies are grumbling and mouths are watering already!

Week 2: June 22 – 26, 2026

Stuffie Camp
Tonya & Emma D.

Summer camp isn’t just for kids!!! Bring your favorite Stuffie for a week full of summer camp adventures. Stuffies will join in on fun camp activities, campers will craft accessories for their fuzzy friends, and fun will be had by all!

Fiber Arts Camp
Ariana & Emma C.

Explore yarn, fabric, and texture through simple, hands-on projects and playful activities. Campers will explore techniques like sewing and weaving while experimenting with bright materials and plenty of imagination. A relaxed, engaging way for young kids to make art they can touch, hold, and be proud of.

Pottery Camp
Chase & Esta

Pottery Camp invites young creators to explore the magic of clay through hands-on, sensory projects designed just for small hands. Each day, children will discover new ways to roll, press, pinch, and mold as they create bowls, animals, tiles, and more!

Week 3: July 6 – 10, 2026

Growing Kindness Camp
Tonya & Emma D.

“Kindness is free, sprinkle that stuff everywhere.” In this week of camp, kids will explore how to grow and spread kindness. Starting with giving kindness to ourselves and growing outwards to family/school/the greater community – campers will explore how to share this kindness through mindfulness, art, music, service projects, and more.

Building Camp
Ariana & Emma C.

Calling all future architects! Join Ms. Emma C. and Ms. Ariana for a week of collaborative fun, where the children will practice teamwork, spatial awareness, problem solving, balancing, and planning skills. Students will use puzzles, Legos, blocks, boxes, and a plethora of other materials to stretch their creativity and build something magical together!

Weaving, Fabric, and Fun Camp
Chase & Esta

Weaving, Fabric, and Fun Camp! This camp introduces children to the joyful world of fibers through age-appropriate weaving experiences. Each day brings a new kind of material to explore: paper, yarn, ribbon, nature, fabric strips, and even a giant group-weaving outdoors!

Week 4: July 13 – 17, 2026

Merry Music Makers Camp
Tonya & Sarah D.

Join in on an exciting musical journey! Campers will make and play their own musical instruments, sing and write songs together, and learn to move to the rhythm and form of music.

Space Camp
Ariana & Emma C.

Join us this summer to explore a universe of playful projects, creative adventures, and hands-on activities inspired by the wonders above. From make-believe missions to simple, joyful creations, each day will bring discoveries that spark curiosity and big smiles. A perfect adventure for little dreamers!

Printmaking Camp
Chase & Esta

Our Printmaking Camp motivates campers to explore colors, textures, and shapes through hands-on, process based art. Each day, children will try a new printmaking method: nature prints, bubble-wrap stamping, relief-printing, and fruit and veggie designs. Campers build confidence as they experiment with tools, discover patterns, and make artwork that feels magical!

Week 5: July 20 – 24, 2026

Feathered Friends Camp
Tonya & Ariana

Come build your bird love with Ms. Ariana and Ms. Tonya. Campers will fly through the week learning about local birds & their habitats, migration and eating habits – all through engaging bird crafts, nest building, dramatic play, songs, and hands-on experiments. Watch your child’s curiosity take flight as they learn about the birds in their own backyard. Campers will practice spotting common birds, learn to recognize a few easy bird calls, explore feathers and nests, and create bird-inspired crafts. Gentle walks and outdoor observation time help them notice colors, movement, and sounds in real birds nearby. A fun, welcoming way for young kids to connect with nature and get excited about the birds they see every day.

Blossom Bash
Chase & Emma D.

A camp where kids discover the magic of flowers through crafting—making garlands, crowns, sun catchers, petal poppers, and more. This week, young makers will use flowers to create art, decorations, and participate in fun projects! Come join us for a beautiful week filled with color, creativity, and lots of flowers.

What to bring on the FIRST DAY

Bring these items on the first day of each camp (Monday of each week your child is signed up) to leave at camp for the week.

  • Full change of clothes: Please pack a shirt, shorts, underwear & socks in a Ziploc bag and label it clearly with your child’s name.
  • Sunscreen and Insect Repellent: Please label sunscreen with your child’s name. You must complete a Topical Ointment Permission Slip for the sunscreen and/or insect repellent you are bringing.

Hand both directly to a teacher in the drop-off car line. We must keep all sunscreen/repellent locked up and out of reach of children, and we might not see it if it is tucked inside a backpack. Thanks for your help on this matter.

  • Nutritious snack AND lunch: We will provide organic cow’s milk at lunchtime. If you prefer a different lunchtime beverage, please pack it with their lunch.
