Emma Cowley – Assistant Teacher

Hello, my name is Emma and I am so excited to join the AMS family! I recently moved to Asheville from my home state of Massachusetts. My journey with Montessori started after I graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Sociology, Political Science, and Philosophy. I became an assistant and then lead teacher at a Nature Preschool on a farm in Texas that was inspired by Montessori, Waldorf, and Peace Education styles, and instantly fell in love with it. When I moved back to Massachusetts from Texas I worked at a YMCA summer camp as their High Ropes Director, and in the fall was an assistant teacher in their preschool program. I briefly left early education to spend a year working as a para-educator at a school for children with autism. I love working with children in unique environments that value the individuality and strengths of each child, which is why I am so excited to be at a Montessori school again! My other interests include reading, crochet, sewing, hiking, cycling, and spending time with my two cats.

We will be closed Monday, June 29th through Friday, July 3rd. We will reopen Monday, July 6th.
